e7Sp?>-d time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
"5!T-Z+F to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

~.<Q C<d N vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
kSpy-bVn Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
g5C$#<28 who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
mDXG~*1 in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
_UA|0 a!- first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
.6=;{h4cpB drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
0clq} UhKd o At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
T,oZaJ< Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
*mJ\Tzc) talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
EzeU-!|W her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
[v+5|twxpU Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
I/*^ s Polydor Records.
*E wDwS$$ |ms . Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
a&Z,~Vp her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York

HR Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
fm ^J- days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
!,^y!+,Qy organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
x*sDp3f[* released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November

2007 in the United States and Japan.
\ iA'^69 #tIeI6 Qw At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through

Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
`6P2+wf1j~ performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January

Qq>s 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
S"t\LB*'Ls and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
sU+8' &vBp Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
!Ln 'Mi_B 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

9 United States and Canada.
I.'/!11> :}R,a=N On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
y=aWSb2y' album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in

;lD5(> Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
?t/G@ is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
gZ| !' includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
UcKVL zKs (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson

t (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
+c8t~2tuN Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
T/.U Mw composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
