naT;K0T= time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself

to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

M)oy3y^& taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
!?7c2QR N vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
ag$mc8-p[ Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,

hK t c in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
7]~65@%R-& first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to

`B ! 1 drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
qd FYf/y P7Ws$7x At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
Nuw_,-h Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
Y4 Y;x K" talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
/k(KA [bS her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
" c6(=FFq Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
OBY Polydor Records.
BQ ol>VRu 9(>l trA Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
S"Dw8_y7} her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
[CU]fU{$ Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
#*[G,s#t^ days under live conditions, with a group of musicians

c organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
>~kSe=Hsb4 released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
dX0"h5v1 2007 in the United States and Japan.

aL xi]qdiA At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
I3A@0'Vm;L Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
0!c^pOq6 performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
qe! \ oh 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
S 'jH and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
52$7vYMto Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
qn+b*4 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

}?pY ~f On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
sz' IGy% album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
/\S1p3EW* Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
4&Uq \,nx is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
AiT&:'<UT includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
3@r_t|j (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
]8|cV GMa (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
)vFJx[a<n` Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
R(c:#KF#8 composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
