n&@\[,B time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
/$B<+;L!# to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
gP<l first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
e'u 9 SpJ her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
r| &qXb x taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
0B D3~L v vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
dL v\H& Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,

L who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
o\2#o5# in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
[*,`a]z-Q first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
1(C%/g#" drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
O10h(Wg R,t R{| 8 At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
c/pT2/y Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
lqu1H& talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
nE,"3X" her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers

Xo Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
@v |_APy# Polydor Records.
O"Ar3> 0e 3 aWn Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
MvObx'+ her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
! k&< Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five

mCB cbN days under live conditions, with a group of musicians

\8Y* organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
#VD[ \# released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
DUa`8cE} 2007 in the United States and Japan.
!30 BZM ^ 1 [dza5 At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
J5IQ Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
2E;*kKw[ performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
5y@JMQSO 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
Uw4KdC and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
!x|Ok'izDL Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
*y7^4I -J 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

:tNH Cx M" %w9 )@ On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
'@rG X+" album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
}F** !%4d Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
_aq3G9C_ is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
8L.Y0_x includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
/O+,vRw\A (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
^O4.$4t| (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
2,'m]`;GNr Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
5G= 2=E composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
A{Pp`*l will be released at the end of September 2008 by
