to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her bUS:c 2"

her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical 9SsVJ<9,R  
taste was influenced by her father's large selection of d[9{&YnH !  
vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny `[5xncZ-  
Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father, {.$7g8]I  
who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering ij0 I!ilG4  
in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a g7]S  
first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to Pv5S k8

At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in +8zACs{p  
Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical U\lbh;9G  
talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave N62;@Z\7  
her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers ]|g2V a~-  
Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with AVQcD`V3B

Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded ?h4 [yp=w  
her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York %cn1d>M+I  
Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five wA$7 SWC  
days under live conditions, with a group of musicians O80Z7  
organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was T+Re1sPr?  
released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November > Hv9Xz

At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through #a=]h}&1?  
Germany and the United States. On her American tour she Db Qp(W0  
performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January 2x<BU3  
2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, 'S6zkwC]  
and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig mbbhz,  
Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June 5V/&4$.U!  
2008 the singer started her second tour through the NW6;7nWb

album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in ?MFC(Wsh  
Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She |.Vgk8oTl  
is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band v];YC6shx  
includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell  it H  
(guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson /E<Q_/'Z  
(keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine 9e`};DE   
Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and VQ('ejv}/  
composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and @
