6 At the age of six Ayo. played the violin for a short
B`/c Kfg time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself

]5>* to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

~ first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
j|u6TG her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
|Q'l&Gt6 taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
WaV P+Ap vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
M=}vDw ]Q Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
f&\v+'[p who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
-}Jf4k#G in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
QX*HvT first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
tsFwFB* drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
;(kU:b|j l+>&-lX' At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
kW#{[,7r Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
"))G|+tz talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
e6n^l $' her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
{ &'u1y R Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
6[h 3pb/m Polydor Records.
I\6u(; @ OOE mXb]8 Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
S)@95pb her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
qq &G~y Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
rf% E+bh4 days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
/ ;%[:x organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
axl!zu* released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
CL^MIcq? 2007 in the United States and Japan.
{5f? y\Z #Fua^]n At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
p2|BbC\N Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
}Om+,!_d performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
TB]B l. 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
3q=A35*LT> and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig

MVa[ 0Y Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
|]5g+sd 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
C ^@~ United States and Canada.

0>qqz e ,_b On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
vG'JMzAm album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
Vo%MG.IPB Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
W9{>.E? is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band

B includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
X*2M Nx^K~ (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
mCtuR*z_ (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
N/A. 1W Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
0Ts[IHpg&E composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
I9ga8mG4-' will be released at the end of September 2008 by
XD5z+/F<"0 Universal Music France.
