L)qUBp@MW time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
}a;H2&bu to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
+BDW1% first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
R@#xPv4o% her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
G#ELQ/Q taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
!ST7@D vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny

l Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
{0 % who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
Ta $55K0 in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
/|3~LvIt= first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
KWM.e1( drop out of school at the age of eighteen.

y B0JL}n ]L2b|a3 At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
!MVf(y$ Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
^CgN>-xZ?# talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
MS:,I ? her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
xUNq!({T Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
5gk Q6& m Polydor Records.

Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
^j2ve's: her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York

)i Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
W>q u~ak?x days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
j3H_g ^ organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
z] KJ4 released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
X"9N < )C 2007 in the United States and Japan.
W)'*Dcd ) ~gIJW At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
eeBW~_W Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
gW<4E=fl performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
i6$HwRZm# 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
L2_[M' and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
R"l6|9tmP Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
B_D0yhh 2008 the singer started her second tour through the
zeq")A United States and Canada.
{{B' 65Wu zhbSi w On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
/ !y~Q|<|= album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
6=Wevb5YJ Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
)a5ON8? is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
!D ?(}nag includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
@eutp`xoT\ (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
>?_}NZ,y (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
+o'xyR '( Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
fwmXIpteK composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
6Q J .=.>b will be released at the end of September 2008 by
^Epup$ Universal Music France.
