i?7 ?I time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself

R dNL f her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
,J:Ro N_: taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
q>5j (,6F vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
k|U2M p Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
~R50-O who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering

rS" in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
$dA]GWW5A first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
xn,9Wj- drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
*%E\mu,,c c]/S<w< At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
H8 xhE~'t Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
%.onO0}) talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
7+qKA1t^ her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
qwO@>wQ}~ Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
N,3iSH=cN[ Polydor Records.
cv7:5P C2\zbC[qm Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
A ~ _2" her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
e+MQmW A'F Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
yrd1 J$ days under live conditions, with a group of musicians

TTXeS-b organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
n|KY cU# released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
U.JE \/ 2007 in the United States and Japan.
W+5. lf=2> o$rF-? At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
cLw|[ !5: Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
`*D" =5G+ performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
Qkhor-f0 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
$48 Z>ij?f and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
+w"?q'SnF Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
oYt 34@{? 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

/ :6|)AW.{ ]hoq!:>M1 On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
k+vfZ9bD(J album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
WjCxTBI Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
gga}mqMv= is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
yxU9W,D v includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
(.VS&Kv#U (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
ou- uZ"$,c (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
)a x>* Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
