Q^ time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself

)' to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her

X& mD/1 taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
NG_7jZzXA9 vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
jss.j~8 Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,
xVk5% who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
JKV&c= I in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
`BVXF#sb first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
D)tL}X$ drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
"!ks7 :}v foUB/&Ee At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in

gQ_76Yck Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
#I1q,fm talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
Zc'^iDAY her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers

C8x9 Jrc Polydor Records.
-Fq`#" u+^KP>rM( Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
f,x;t-o+R her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
z* B?Hw), Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five
[* M': days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
BA[ uO3\4 organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
-lrcb/)Gz released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
k~F;G=P 2007 in the United States and Japan.
%JgdLn QE \)?+6D'# At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
)-0+O=v Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
$[ Q;{Q performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
67X UhnE 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,

9 and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
?) T@qn+ Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June

]!9; ?so 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

5|cRHM# album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
W,"Re,`H Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She
<<b]v I is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band

[yNwM includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
mfG m>U (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
IEfYg( c0U (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
r. lHlHl Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
Wm}gnNwA composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and
