time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself Ui

her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical PU^Z7T);  
taste was influenced by her father's large selection of s!2pOH!u
 
vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny V< @ ]Iv  
Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father, |:tFQ.Z'2  
who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering :R<n{%~  
in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a yl%F}kBR  
first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to 56m|

At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in jv]:`$}G\  
Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical rK2*DuE  
talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave *~|xj,md  
her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers QP?Z+P<  
Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with ![iAALPNl

Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded D;|4ZjM-  
her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York sw nov[0  
Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five o=2y`Eq  
days under live conditions, with a group of musicians !G#3jh:kiY  
organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was J+LFzl07q  
released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November ]v 6u
  
2007 in the United States and Japan. F[c;iM(^

At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through q"A(l  
Germany and the United States. On her American tour she x1$tS#lS  
performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January mD)_quz.sk  
2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, oZ@_o3VG  
and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig 8KW}XG  
Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June L;'+O u  
2008 the singer started her second tour through the ZSMOq4Y 9

On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second c`y[V6q9  
album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in Vcl"qz@Fj  
Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She Fp06a!7<  
is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band ;EE*#"IJ  
includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell xk}YeNVj  
(guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson  OXzJ%&h  
(keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine -X Bh\w  
Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and 7k:}9M~  
composed by the singer was recorded in only 5 days and Srz.-,2PF  
will be released at the end of September 2008 by Kig.hHj@
