*X^ C +F time, then turned to the piano and later taught herself
pCC^Hxa to play the guitar. When she was about 15, she wrote her
HZ1 nuA first song, which was about her mother, and which helped
.zTkOk L her to cope with her traumatic childhood. Her musical
ddd2w taste was influenced by her father's large selection of
i0*Cs#(=h vinyl albums which included Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny
9+/D\|"{ Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. When her father,

I who worked part-time as a DJ while studying engineering
lCBH3-0^ in Germany, discovered her singing talent he recorded a
h:sf?X[ first demo tape with her in a studio and allowed her to
u J ]uz% drop out of school at the age of eighteen.
0)7v _|z D,|TQ Q At twenty-one Ayo. moved to London and later lived in
C ' {B Paris and New York. During her time in Paris her musical
S)W?W}*R\ talent was noticed by a broader audience, and she gave
ma!C:C9#J her first solo concerts, opened 2002 for soul singers
b\zq,0% Omar and Cody Chesnutt, and signed a contract with
dw!Xt@,[g{ Polydor Records.
L/,g D.h^ !q$>6P Shortly after giving birth to her son Nile, she recorded
#3eI4KJ4+l her first album Joyful in January 2006 in the New York
:#_k`{WG Sony studio. The whole disc was recorded in just five

8N1gf;t days under live conditions, with a group of musicians
4>fj @X(3 organized by her producer Jay Newland. The album was
nD>X?yz2 released in June 2006 in Europe and Korea and in November
20}]b* C} 2007 in the United States and Japan.
z|Xt'?9&n - em3 #V At the end of 2007 Ayo. started a concert tour through
JHVndK4L Germany and the United States. On her American tour she
'd;aAG performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. On 10 January
i= M[$ 2008 she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman,
z~v-8aw and on January 26, 2008 the Late Late Show with Craig
;eO Ye3;c Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. In June
KBI 1t$ 2008 the singer started her second tour through the

[( United States and Canada.
>Yv#t.! FgPmQ On 10 March 2008 Ayo. started recording on her second
SL^%Zh/~ album Gravity At Last at the Compass Point Studios in
7Bf4ojKt Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. She

O5a is co-producing the album with Jay Newland. Her band
_nw\ac#* includes Keith Christopherson (bass), Larry Campbell
2Y=Q % (guitars and other string instruments), Lucky Peterson
Tilr%D(Q (keyboards), Sherrod Barnes (guitar/vocals) and Jermaine
H-X5A\\5 Parrish (drums). The album with 13 tracks written and
